Photography Equipment
My Philosophy:
Equipment?....If you think that an expensive digital camera with capabilities of 8 frames per second, autofocus, and multiple exposure modes will make you a better photographer, think again.
The camera (digital or film) should be an extension of your eye. More often than not, I find that the "bells and whistles" of modern technology can get in the way of the creative process.
All in all, the best camera is one that you will use, so choose an extremly durable camera that you can take out in the snow, rain, dust, cold, and crowds.
Currently, I shoot both digital and film. With the advent of digital photography, I now travel lighter. I no longer carry 90+ rolls of film on extended trips - just some flash cards and a portable drive. However, I still love Fugi Velvia slide film for its wonderfull saturation quality.
Above all, I try not to get caught up in the newest, fastest, most mega-pixled camera that comes out each year. That avenue only takes your focus away from using your equipment. And remember, valuable time spent saving for the newest camera could be time photographing.
